Blackpink’s How You Like That crosses 1 billion streams
On March 12, the girl group’s hit track How You Like That finally surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. With this, Blackpink have became the first K-pop girl group to achieve this feat. Released on June 26, 2020, How You Like That was the first pre-release single from the group’s debut studio album, The Album. Written and produced by Teddy Park, Danny Chung, R. Tee and 24, the groovy track became an instant hit and bagged accolades across the globe.
Aside from Jennie, only BTS, Jungkook and Blackpink’s Lisa are part of the 1 billion club in the K-pop industry. BTS, who hit 1 billion views with Dynamite in 2021, were the first Korean artist to achieve this feat, while Blackpink’s Lisa was the first K-pop soloist to do the same.
On the work front
On December 29 last year, YG Entertainment confirmed that all four members of Blackpink had signed under the label only for group promotions and not for solo activities. “BLACKPINK recently renewed their contracts with YG for their group activities, and we have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for individual activities,” the label stated.
While Jennie established her own agency OA (ODD ATELIER) and revealed plans to release her first full-length solo album by the end of 2024, Lisa as well as Jisoo also launched their solo labels and are currently focusing on their acting careers. As for Rosé, the singer is yet to reveals her future plans.
