Summary
- Spider-Man 4 will feature a different Peter Parker after Spider-Man: No Way Home’s events.
- Spider-Man’s secret identity reveal in the MCU happened on July 7, 2024.
- Spider-Man’s MCU journey faces major challenges, with his next appearances likely coming in Spider-Man 4 or Avengers 5.
Tom Holland’s journey as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had some major changes that will influence his future appearances, and it all started with a dark milestone that just passed by. While there is no release date for it at the moment, Holland will come back as Peter Parker in the MCU’s Spider-Man 4. The movie will deal with a very different version of Peter Parker, influenced by the events of Holland’s explosive third solo movie, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The movie, which also featured Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man, became one of the most successful in MCU history. Sadly, Spider-Man’s MCU journey has gone from one of wonder to one of loss. Now that he lives all alone with no friends or access to Stark Tech, Peter Parker will have to reinvent himself in Spider-Man 4. While that film does not arrive, a key milestone that completely changed Spider-Man’s time in the MCU has just passed.
A new Easter egg from Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four movie has been revealed, and it makes my favorite Spider-Man costume more likely for the MCU.
Spider-Man’s MCU Secret Identity Was Revealed On July 7th
The MCU Timeline Is Met By The Real World
Real life has caught up to the MCU where Spider-Man is concerned. After Avengers: Endgame‘s five-year time jump, the MCU’s timeline distanced itself from real life. Now, the world has finally caught up to one of the most important moments in the life of Holland’s Peter Parker. July 7, 2024, is the day Mysterio sent The Daily Bugle the video of Spider-Man’s secret identity being revealed, with the whole world discovering that Peter Parker was behind the Spider-Man mask, which completely changed the hero’s life.
Tom Holland was cast as Spider-Man nine years ago, and while he was in some of the best MCU movies, I think his best as Peter Parker is yet to come.
How The MCU’s Timeline Makes Spider-Man’s Reveal So Much Worse
It Connects To Devastating Events
While Avengers: Endgame served as the explosive finale to the Infinity Saga, Spider-Man: Far From Home was its final movie, serving as the Infinity Saga’s epilogue. That meant both films were close to one another in relation to their release dates and the in-universe events. Most of the events in Avengers: Endgame take place in October 2023. That includes the death of Spider-Man’s mentor in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, who passed away after snapping Thanos and his army on October 17, 2023.
A new Marvel Cinematic Universe theory after Robert Downey Jr.’s recent Iron Man return comments suggests a very emotional plot for Spider-Man 4.
Not even a year passed between Iron Man’s death and Spider-Man’s identity being revealed. Peter Parker really goes from problem to problem in the MCU, with a few bouts of reprieve in between. With Spider-Man: No Way Home dealing with the fallout of that reveal and the tragic events that followed, Peter Parker is currently at his lowest point in the MCU. Holland’s next appearance in the role could come either in Spider-Man 4 or Avengers 5, both of which will once again present major challenges for Spider-Man, showing just how lower he can get.

Peter and his friends go on summer vacation to Europe, where Peter finds himself suddenly the inheritor of Tony’s incredible tech. However, the trip suddenly goes awry as Europe comes under siege from otherworldly villains, routed by a cloaked hero, Mysterio. Partnering with Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Mysterio, Peter will fight to protect his friends while figuring out his place in a post-Iron man world.
